The small stream that flows here over the hiking trail and further downhill is fed by the so-called Eternal Spring. The name says it all here: while many other springs dry up at certain times, the Eternal Spring below the boulder always carries water, although the rocky ground should actually make this impossible.
The temperature at the spring is very favourable all year round for plants that like it cool and humid. As a result, a flora typical of the spring has established itself here. However, these plants are also particularly sensitive. Therefore, the area directly at the source may not be entered.
The Eternal Spring lies outside the Iron Age fort complex. That means there was only water outside the wall and not inside. A water supply inside was thus not ensured which makes a settlement at this site unlikely.
