An adventure trail for explorers and families
Welcome to the Bruchhauser Steine!
Embark on a hike through untouched nature, along impressive rock formations and on the traces of the Iron Age. Discover the National Geotope and the National Natural Monument Bruchhauser Steine! But how did the Bruchhauser Steine come into being? And what makes this rock formation so special and worth protecting? On this adventure trail you will find answers – and at the same time you will also be invited to pause, contemplate and enjoy. The three sciences of geology, biology and archaeology are at the forefront of your adventure trip across the Istenberg – you will encounter all kinds of exciting and interesting facts. On your journey, you will be accompanied by the Bruchhauser Steine pass which you received at the information centre. It will help you keep an overview. In 1992, Baron von Fürstenberg-Gaugreben and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia established the Bruchhauser Steine Foundation, on whose territory you are travelling here. The foundation promotes nature conservation, landscape preservation and the protection of archaeological monuments with the help of specialist authorities such as the LWL Archaeology Department and the NRW Geological Service. Please note that it is not permitted to leave the paths, pick or damage plants or disturb or even catch animals during your adventure trip. You are welcome to dispose of your rubbish in the rubbish bins at the car parks. The loop trail covers approx. 3.6 kilometres and is not barrier-free due to its location and condition. In total you will be on the move for about 2 to 2.5 hours before arriving back here. The information centre team will be happy to show you around. The Bruchhauser Steine Foundation wishes you lots of fun and an interesting journey of discovery! Legend
